This week for Catskill Mountain Kids (CMK) we’re learning about fall leaves! Come for a mini lesson on why the leaves turn from green to golds, browns, oranges, and reds this time of year, and participate in an art activity. Geared to ages 4-10, all are welcome to attend!

CMK will be running Saturdays from October 12th through November 16th from 11 to 12 noon. Suggested donation $2 per child.

Nature Sketching

Sketching can be a great way to get in touch with nature. Join Catskills Visitor Center staff member Kelli for an introduction to the basic practice of nature sketching. Take part in a short, guided activity before striking out on your own on the Visitor Center’s property and trails to draw, doodle, paint, or sketch. Whether you haven’t drawn since you were a kid or you’re a photo-realism expert, come experience the camaraderie of taking some time to enjoy art and nature with like-minded folks.

The program is open to people of all ages and all artistic/writing experience. Beginners welcome! The Visitor Center building and loop trail are accessible.

DEC and NYS Parks is offering an Outdoors Day on June 8, 2019, from 10 AM to 3 PM at multiple sites across New York State, as part of Governor Cuomo's Adventure NY initiative. This free, open house event will allow visitors to try out many outdoor recreation activities, and learn techniques from DEC and Parks staff, local organizations and experts.  Come celebrate Outdoors Day with us at the Catskills Visitor Center! As part of Healthy Ulster County Week, join a 200-hour certified yoga instructor for a yoga/movement class and a walk on the Catskills Visitor Center nature trail (5096 State Route 28, Mt. Tremper, NY 12457). A small number of mats provided, however please bring your own mat if you have one! Beginner level yoga and hike. All ages and abilities welcome, over 10 years recommended.
